Point clouds are derived from Lidar or aerial images and provide a rich data source for subsequent analysis. Each point represents a geographically correct point on the surface of the earth in 3 dimensional space. Image based point clouds have higher resolution than typical Lidar clouds and can be derived at original image resolution or down sampled to reduce detail and file size.

The following image highlights vegetation mapping with height determination for a transmission line Right-of-Way.
The following image shows vegetative encroachment mapping of utility distribution lines. Image based point clouds obtained using manned aircarft provide flexibility in obtaining imagery over public and populated areas which is a limitation of UAVs/Drones as a result of current Transport Canada regulations.
The following 3D Model of a highway infrastructure project is derived from an aerial image based point cloud.
